Northeast Texas, AFA Chapter 416, supports the 645th Aeronautical Engineering Support Squadron (AESS) located in Greenville, TX, as well as works to inspire military service in their area of responsibility. On May 30, 2025, they hosted a golf tournament to raise funds to support morale and recreation efforts for the local military and to have funds to support inspire military service efforts.
Held at Woodbridge Golf Cub in Wylie, TX, (www.wbgolfclub.com) the tournament hosed by MSgt Zach Hill, Chapter President, had 144 participants and was supported by multiple community partner sponsors. “This was our second year doing the tournament to support our local military families and to inspire military service in our area,” said Hill. This year’s tournament doubled the number of players, and we found additional sponsors for the event.
Special thanks to returning sponsors, World Wide Lan Tec Inc. (Mr. Art Petty) and UHU Technologies (Mr. Charlie Baucom). They were both hole sponsors and UHU provided funding for two teams in the tournament.
We were excited to have new sponsors, and now community partners as well. Randy Schieberle (txrandys1@kw.com), a Keller Williams realtor in Rockwall, TX, became a hole sponsor and new community partner. “Being able to support our military members in small ways was the driving force for me,” said Schieberle. We also had a longstanding partner, Rockwall Eyecare, Dr. Holly Britt, (www.rockwalleyecare.com), sponsor a hole. And thank you to Mercer Advisors (www.merceradvisors.com), Anna Apodaca and John Mazzei, for supporting two teams, being hole sponsors and becoming Community Partners. “We were very impressed with the event, the course, and the people we met at the event,” said Mazzei. A local military member joined the advisors’ teams in the tournament.
The level of support from our military members, the local community, employees of L3Harris in Greenville, TX (another chapter partner), and the awesome support from Woodbridge Golf Club made the tournament a complete success.
The funds will be used by the 645th AESS to provide seasonal morale and welfare activities and will allow the chapter to provide additional funds to support Advocate to Inspire Military Service (AIMS) [www.afa.org/aims] efforts with local recruiters.
Special thanks to chapter members Chad Chaffee (Secretary), Ted Oats (Vice President), Vance Clarke (Treasurer), and especially Zach Hill (President) for their efforts to make the tournament a success.
